چکیده

Radiative capture of the K by the deuteron is examined as a reaction for measurement of the Λ-neutron scattering lengths. Using the final state interaction, analogous to measurements of the radiative capture of pions by deuterium, the scattering lengths of both the triplet and singlet Λ-n interaction can be inferred. The problem of the separation of these two fundamental parameters without and with spin information in the experiment is addressed. It is shown that a measurement of the deviation of the vector deuteron polarization asymmetry from –1 provides a direct determination of the difference of the singlet and triplet scattering lengths.

Radiative Neutron Capture on Lithium-7

The radiative neutron capture on lithium-7 is calculated model independently using a low energy halo effective field theory. The cross section is expressed in terms of scattering parameters directly related to the S-matrix element. The cross section depends on the poorly known p-wave effective range parameter r1. This constitutes the leading order uncertainty in traditional model calculations. ...

Model-independent calculation of radiative neutron capture on lithium-7.

The radiative neutron capture on lithium-7 is calculated model independently using a low-energy halo effective field theory. This constitutes the largest uncertainty in traditional model calculations. It is explicitly d...

Effective Field Theory for Low-Energy np Systems a

The properties of low-energy neutron-proton systems are studied in an effective field theory where only nucleons figure as relevant degrees of freedom. With a finite momentum cut-off regularization scheme, we show that the large scattering lengths of the np systems do not spoil the convergence of the effective field theory, which turns out to be extremely successful in reproducing, with little ...

Spectroscopic factors for bound s–wave states derived from neutron scattering lengths

A simple and model–independent method is described to derive neutron single–particle spectroscopic factors of bound s–wave states in A+1Z = AZ⊗n nuclei from neutron scattering lengths. Spectroscopic factors for the nuclei C, C, N, O, O, Ne, Ar, and Ar are compared to results derived from transfer experiments using the well–known DWBA analysis and to shell model calculations. The scattering leng...
